A perennial yield study determines the maximum sustainable annual withdrawal of groundwater from an aquifer without causing its long-term depletion. The purpose of these studies is to provide a scientific basis for managing groundwater resources, ensuring water availability for future generations by guiding decisions on water rights and usage to avoid overdrafting and preserve the aquifer.
